Claude Debussy is one of my favorite composers of the romantic era if not one of my favorites of all time. His pieces are some of the first music I remember hearing. My mother would play Debussy records for me over and over in our dining room and I'd slip on my little ballet shoes and choreograph dances to each piece. While symphonies are nice, I prefer less bombastic, just plain piano music and always have. His melodies are so simple and beautiful. Reverie is a song that took me a long time to learn on piano. The rythm is complex, and heavily syncopated. There is a modern feel to his music and he uses a lot of jazz chords. I will always think of early ballet classes of mine, when I hear Claude Debussy.
